and the empty wine bottles by the side

of your bed will lend you no better reasoning

than a reminder of what happened the night before.

Or at least roll over and enjoy

having someone to share it with

again until the coming morning when you

both decide it’s probably best to let it be one night.

things that have no grip on you

as long as you don’t give them an inch

in your head. But, it proves harder at night.

before you drive yourself insane tonight.
